Assisted living for VR players over 30 · Works on dial-up and c̶o̶r̶d̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶p̶h̶o̶n̶e̶s̶ headsets

Your knees heard every crouch-walk.

Silver Respawn is a full-service community for players who have reached thirty. Seated play, floor recalibration around the clock, and a nurse who knows your IPD by heart. Let us take it from here.
Welcome home

Thirty is not the end. It is the lobby.

One morning you put on the headset and something is different. The strap needs loosening. The world takes longer to load, or you do. You catch yourself telling a nineteen-year-old about the days before finger tracking, and they mute you.

That is natural. It happens to every player, usually around their thirtieth birthday, sometimes as early as twenty-eight if they started on a development kit. At Silver Respawn you never have to stand up again unless you want to. You will not want to.

Every page of this site is built for a 56k modem. Photographs load one line at a time, top to bottom, the way they did when you had patience. If the page stops halfway because someone picked up the phone in the kitchen, reload it. We will wait.

Our facilities support every headset, including the one you keep in a drawer "just in case". Wired, wireless, and the one whose cable you taped to the ceiling with a pulley.

A grey external fax modem with a row of status lights and a serial cable.

Phantom Fall Response™

Fallen in a world and can't get up?

The floor was forty centimetres lower than it looked. The chair you sat down on was only in the world. Your body is fine; your brain is not convinced.

Every resident wears a Phantom Fall Response pendant, an in-world game object worn on the wrist. One press and a Floor Recalibration Technician is on the way.

A glowing red STOP button set in a black marble panel.
Press once. Then wait. Then wait a bit more.
The Virtual Games Room

Now playing: 1997

Shuffleboard, bingo, Beat Saber on Easy with handrails, and a television in the corner that plays commercials from the 90s between bingo calls. Residents say it is the only thing on that still makes sense.

An old CRT television with a built-in VCR, its screen glowing blue, against a brick wall.
Channel 3. It is always channel 3.

Full-body tracker since 2019

Doris, 34

"I used to dance in clubs until 4 a.m. Now I dance until my battery warning, then I nap. The nurse puts a blanket on my avatar. I didn't know she could do that."

Assisted Calibration

Gerald, 31

"The staff explain the new menus slowly, and they don't sigh. My nephew sighs."

Sleep Program, year 2

Marisol, 38

"I made my CPAP hours twenty-nine nights out of thirty. The thirtieth night I fell asleep in the bingo world. They still gave me the sticker."

Phantom Fall Response

Theo, 41

"I sat down on a chair that was only in the world. I spent twenty minutes on the carpet saying 'I'm fine' to nobody. Now I have the pendant. I'm still fine, but eventually someone comes."

Memory Care: Friends List

Priyanka, 33

"I've met the same cat avatar eleven times. Every time we have a lovely chat. The laminated card says it's my brother."
